Hi! I’m Cole and Kerry’s oldest son, and I’m 13. My online screen name for the blog is Chummer. My parents have called me that ever since I can remember. I was diagnosed with autism when I was three. It doesn’t really get in my way of life, but to some, it does. Now, I’m not worrying about it every day, but sometimes, I will think about it here and there. Anyways, our family did this “unplugged” week where we could only have 2 hours of screen time per day.
I thought it was going to be hard, but, I soon realized that it was super easy. You see, when we use all of it up, we have to read a book, play outside, or go and hang out with a friend. Though, be cautious. Your family might have a few problems with it like my little brother did when he was told no TV in the mornings. I do highly recommend it with your families, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it.
I soon discovered that when I was outside, barely any kids were out there. So, if you have a kid that is constantly playing on the Xbox or the PlayStation, tell them to go outside and breathe in the fresh air. Though, I do have to admit that I do sometimes tend to stay indoors. Also, I’m really tired after a day of school, so I tend to be on my IPod after school for a long time. Anyways, my mom and I would play cards during our unplugged week.
Though, we have to do it again as we are going back to constantly being on electronics. Anyways, the whole point of it is that we don’t realize how much time we are on our electronics.
