Many of us are students of the scriptures, especially the Bible. I’ve created this Old Testament bookmark printable because so often we don’t have the books in the Old Testament memorized in order. In fact, with so many books it’s a challenge to pronounce them, let alone memorize them. But if we take the time to do so and use hard-copy scriptures when we study, instead of electronic versions, the stories and often the chronology make so much more sense when we know the order.
Books in the Old Testament Song
I’ve often taught youth the order of books in the Old Testament. So I know if our kids can do it, we adults can too. Here’s a great song that teaches them all in order. Listen to it a few times for pronunciation on some of the trickier names. Then help your children to sing along. After a few times, you’ll have it down.
Books in the Old Testament Bookmark
For many of us, it just takes repeated visual practice to memorize the order of books. I like to have something like this bookmark in my bible to help me review. No matter what page I’m on, I can see all the books in order, and I don’t have to turn back to the front to see them.
I use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, so this bookmark follows the books in the Old Testament as contained in the KJV.
This free download prints four color bookmarks per 8.5 x 11 paper. It’s free for personal and church use but may not be commercialized in any way. Any other use must be obtained by permission of Kerry Smith of Mrs. Lady Wordsmith at themrsladywordsmith@gmail.com.
