Black printer ink spilled on carpet is cause for swear words! How do you get it out??? Recently, we accidentally spilled some while trying to change the ink cartridge for the first time. My husband and I were both upset, and I quickly grabbed my phone to search for a solution on Pinterest.
We quickly found several home remedies. None of them worked! Vinegar, baking soda, hairspray. Nada! In fact, the ink was beginning to smear, and we feared the worst–a permanent, ugly, black stain on our beige carpet.
But then I remembered I had a cleaner that had solved a previous stain issue in our son’s bedroom. He had sneaked some black slime in there, and the lid had come off the container. The slime had slid onto the carpet and had been percolating 🙂 there for hours. By the time I found it and removed the slimy part, the carpet was stained black. To say I was mad was an understatement! I was so upset that I forgot to grab my camera to document before and after pictures.

The Stain: Black Printer Ink on Carpet
But when we were fixing the printer ink stain, I remembered to grab the camera. Here’s what happened.

We cleaned and cleaned first with vinegar; then we tried a non-oily hairspray. We followed instructions on several of the top Pinterest posts for removing ink stains from carpet. Nothing worked well. They lightened the stain but seemed to spread it also.
Then I remembered this stain removal product I had in the cleaning closet. It got the ink stain out of the carpet when our son’s slime had made a huge mess. But would it work with printer ink?
The Product You Need to Get Printer Ink out of Carpet

I applied it liberally to the stained area and let it soak for a few minutes. Then I gently scrubbed the area with a clean washcloth. It worked fabulously! I continued applying, scrubbing, and blotting (according to the instructions on the back of the bottle) until the stain was completely gone. What a relief!

I am so pleased with Tech Stain Remover. It’s saved my carpet twice! And I’m so glad I could snap some pictures during our second carpet stain episode to show you how well it works to get out printer ink from carpet. I’m sure this is a somewhat common problem many of us face in our home offices or at work in an office.
I now keep a bottle of Tech Stain Remover in my cleaning closet at all times. After all, once the stain accident happens, there isn’t time to order this good stuff. In addition to removing stains from carpet, it also works on clothing and upholstery. According to the product label, it’s effective on hundreds of types of stain. Keep some on hand. You’ll be so glad you did.
