What little kid doesn’t love reading Halloween books in anticipation of the upcoming holiday? My youngest son was requesting them months ago. He also insists on checking out Halloween videos year-round at the library. 🙂 His birthday is right after the holiday, so his excitement is bubbling over this time of year.
But birthday or not, your children or grandchildren are probably requesting Halloween books. A trip to the library or a bookstore is fascinating this time of year. Here are some favorites we love to read at our house.
First on the list is one that we’d like to share with you personally through this video. Cozy up with your little one, and enjoy Twas the Night before Halloween, by Natasha Wing. (*Affiliate links used.) It’s an adorable remake on the old Christmas classic. In fact, she has a series of “twas the night before” books you might enjoy.
My Monster Mama is an all-time favorite at our house. Boys especially love this charming account. I love the monster rhyme. I bet I can recite most of the book from memory. Here’s a favorite line: “When I wake up, she tweaks my nose, tickles all my pointy toes. . .” We tweak and tickle along with the book. It’s pure joy! Be sure to add this one to your collection.
Goodnight Goon is another favorite, a parody of the all-time children’s classic Goodnight Moon.
Here’s a great list of more Halloween books.

Wonderful! I hope he enjoys them. Fall is such a fun season for reading.
I didn’t know they had a goodnight goon book. I’m going to have to look for it! How cute.
