One of the most important privileges Scouts are asked to do is to display the flag properly and instruct flag ceremonies. There are certain steps for accomplishing this, and Scouts often need a little prompting to ensure the ceremony is done correctly.
Also, I find it helpful to teach and/or remind the boys about proper flag etiquette. Here’s a great online resource you might want to use. Feel free to brush up prior to all the patriotic holidays as well. Even if you don’t have a young Scout in your home, we can all support patriotism for our country.
I really do think the Scout program is wonderful. My oldest son is a brand new Eagle Scout. We’re so proud of him. This was a tough accomplishment for him and definitely NOT in his comfort zone. I also have another son who can hardly wait to someday be a Cub Scout. Thanks to all Scout leaders everywhere who make it possible for our boys to experience the Scouting program!
